His father's name was Vsudev. Now concerning the name, my name has two meanings. As Krishna's name, Vasudeva refers to the fact that he is the son of Vasudeva. But Vasudeva has been a name of Vishnu long before the time of Krishna. For example, a chapter in the Valmiki Ramayana refers to Kapila, an incarnation of Vishnu as Vasudeva. How can this happen? This is because Vasudeva has another meaning. As the name of Vishnu, it refers to the fact that since Vishnu is the supreme Brahmin, he is the abode of all beings.

According to the Varna system, I am Yadav i.e. Kshatriya. My name is Taurus.
